Overview of the Tasting Sessions

Eating is an Agricultural Act. How the roots of good, clean and fair food are found in good, clean and fair farming. Taste organic chicken from Hugh Grierson's farm near Perth and venison from the pioneering Fletchers of Auchtermuchty.

Island Food. A taste tour of some of Scotland's most distinctively different food. Sample Highland Beef and Hebridean Mutton from the spectacular Ardalanish Farm on the Ross of Mull.

Slow Bread and Living Cheese. A taste workshop which highlights how the most familiar of foods can be transformed by allowing them just a little bit of time. Taste examples of the bread baked by Edinburgh's master baker Falko and unpasteurised Ainster cheese from Falside farm in the East Neuk of Fife.

Smoke-filled Rooms. Discover the distinctive place of smoked food in Scottish culinary culture. Join Creelers of Arran to find out all about hot and cold smokes, kippers, smokies and haddies. (Poss also Wark Farm and/or Nethergate for smoked meats?)

What is Slow Food and is it worth hanging around for? A taste tour of great Scottish food which highlights various aspects of Slow Food's distinctive and engaging philosophy of good, clean and fair food.

Havey Nichols Tasting sessions - On Friday & Sunday - Carole Dawson will be featuring all Harvey Nichols own label products including Red and Green pesto, Chutneys and Mustards, Grana Padana and a further range of own label Italian and Mediterranean products.  Carole will also being tasting a range of Harvey Nichols' Jams, Florentines, chocolate and mini  mince pies.

Sugar and Spice - Teaming up from two of Glasgow’s best restaurants are Jacqueline O’Donnell (Sisters) and John Quigley (Red Onion) to provide an unusual sugar and spice tasting sensation. Proving that savoury can be sweet with sugared olives and sweet can be savoury with black peppered puff candy and a range of taste sensations in between, these sessions will prove to be both enlightening and entertaining, particularly when the blindfolds go on for you to guess what it is that you are tasting!

Oils and Vinegar - Joining us again from Demijohn is Angus Ferguson, his shops let you taste his products before you buy, to support this claim he is bringing some of his fantastic Tuscan and Spanish Olive Oils for you to try, learn about where they come from, and why they are so different from each other, then he will help you compare the flavours with some newly attained home grown Rape Seed Oil from Perthshire and how to best pair these oils for amazing results with some of his fabulous fruit vinegars.
